COVID-19 VIRTUAL COMMUNITY CENTER



AMPHS is committed to providing up-to-date information related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in your language. We are operating this Virtual Community Center to provide an accessible, safe, and regular forum for all members of our community to continue accessing important information, alerts, services, and means of communicating with AMPHS while at home.

CURRENT AMPHS PROGRAMS & SERVICES

To ensure the health and safety of our staff and community members, AMPHS facilities will not be open for in-person services beginning March 17, 2020. We will make a determination to reinstate in-person services based on City, State, and Federal recommendations at the appropriate time. All programs and events held at our AMPHS center and partner sites are cancelled or postponed until further notice.

We realize the burden and toll this situation bears on our community members, and therefore we are pleased to continue offering virtual services. For example, Mental Health Counseling, Social Services, and Adult Literacy classes will continue to be offered through online platforms or by phone as permitted by HIPAA privacy guidelines. Please see details below.

During this time, we encourage community members to call us at (212) 256-9036 with any questions. Our phone lines are open between Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM to serve you. We will continue to offer vital services to the extent possible through our hotline. Community members with existing appointments will receive a call from our team regarding alternative arrangements.

CLINICAL & SOCIAL SERVICES

We are currently offering Mental Health Counseling, Social Services, Community Health Case Management and Care Coordination, and Wellness Check-In services entirely virtually and remotely for all community members. All Clinical Services, Physical Therapy, and Screenings are postponed until further notice. If you have an appointment, your AMPHS service provider or Community Health Worker will reach out to you with instructions on how to access the virtual services. Please call or email us to schedule a virtual appointment.


ADULT LITERACY & EDUCATION PROGRAMS

We are conducting all Education program, including all of our Adult Literacy classes, through remote instruction. All students / participants in each class will receive instructions through email, text, phone, WhatsApp, and/or WeChat with instructions on accessing their respective AMPHS online classroom.

DIRECT RELIEF CASH ASSISTANCE

Our Direct Relief Fund puts emergency funds directly in the hands of neighbors in need by providing direct cash assistance to families who will do not qualify to receive stimulus funding, food stamps, and/or unemployment benefits. MASKS FOR OUR WORKERS

AMPHS is partnering with Target Margin Theater and Union of Arab Women to provide reusable cloth masks to essential workers in South Brooklyn. We are grateful to donations from Target Margin Theater's WE WILL CARE FOR YOU campaign and Union of Arab Women's grassroots Mask the Frontlines campaign, a mask-making initiative by essential workers for essential workers. All masks are packaged in Ziplock bags, sit for 72 hours prior to delivery and include care-instructions. Available while supplies last. VIRTUAL COMMUNITY GATHERINGS

We will be hosting weekly community gatherings and town halls for as long as the pandemic continues. Gatherings will be open to all members of the community, and will be conducted in Spanish, Chinese, and Arabic. These gatherings will review the current status of COVID-19 cases in NYC and in our neighborhoods, most updated frequently asked questions we have received, key notifcations and alerts to be aware of, and new community-based resources available. Community members will have the chance to ask new questions and seek clarification on concerns they have. These gatherings are intended to provide factual information on current events, dispel rumors and fears among the community, and provide a regular touch point for ongoing check-ins with our community. Additionally, the gatherings will be facilitated to serve as a forum for psychosocial support and a place of respite in the current times of social distancing.



COMMUNITY RESOURCE FORUM

During this difficult time, we are putting together regular newsletters in English, Spanish, Chinese, and Arabic to explain the current situation surrounding COVID-19 in NYC, the resources that are available, and to dispel myths and rumors.
